Samsung
24" LCD Monitor. First to market in 2003, about $3000.
It's actually a little bit bigger than today's 24" models which are
now $300 and up.
The box this thing came in, you could fit 6 boxes for Samsung 24"
displays and weigh the same too. WOW!

Upgrading
the GPU (chip) cooler on my ATI 9800Pro ($400 in 2004). The new
Arctic Cooling is silent!
The original stock ATI cooler is at the top, very tiny. Bigger heat-sinks
draw out more heat from components.

The
ATI 4670 inside my Core2Quad system (2009). Notice the cooler is the same
design as the old 9800.

A very
dirty computer, NOT MINE! Long haired animals can do this to your computer
in 1 year!

Part
two - After removal of the front bezel! I think it ate a wookie. It was
even worse in real life.
These are photos I took before I used a lot of air to clean this computer.

Replaced
failed cooler on a Quadro FX1000 video card ($800+) It was loud even before
failure.
It got even louder in the end. Replaced with a fan-less heat-pipe design.
Below pic is original.
The reason I prefer dual-slot coolers over single-slot or fan-less is
that it exhausts the air outside the case.

A walk
down memory lane! This is my Amiga 1000's 2MB (not GB) memory expander
for my 1985 Amiga PC.
That computer came with 512mb. This Ram-box was outside the computer,
its heavier than my 15" notebook!

This
is the memory box opened. That top row of black chips... that is 1MB of
memory. Made for a 7mhz PC.
The other 1MB is under it - since this expansion "box" could
be bought without the option for 2MB.
Next to it, a typical memory DIMM for a desktop. a 4GB stick could be
that small. (2009: 2GB = $20)
Never mind today's 4~64GB thumb drives that costs $5~100!
